- The Modernising Government
agenda is underpinned by e-Government principles and the commitment
to enable the population to have electronic access to all Government
services by 2005.
- Modernising the National Health Service
is about providing more appropriate, timely and seamless care.
This is embraced in the Health Improvement Programmes, National
Service Frameworks and other policies.
- The Service will be more integrated - linking
health and social care and other Government Departments. Information
Management and Technology in its widest sense, both the Management
and the Technology, has the ability to deliver this vision.
- This will primarily be through the delivery of
the Electronic
Patient Record (EPR) and the Electronic
Health Record (EHR), the electronic integration of service
providers and the availability of timely, accurate information
to the public, patients and professionals.
- The public will expect to be more informed
about their choices, what is available to them and how they can
access the service of their choice. They will expect to access
this information through a wider range of media, including Mobile
Phones, Digital Television and the Internet.
