Touch screen kiosks are being used
to provide the public with access to the information that is provided
electronically through NHS Direct Online. The principal aim is to
deliver faster advice and information to people about health, illness
and NHS Services.
Members of the public can also search a comprehensive database on
conditions and treatments, learn more about NHS services or seek advice
on healthy living.
These kiosks are located throughout the country in a variety of environments
including pharmacies, libraries, supermarkets, universities and colleges
as well as more traditional NHS locations such as Accident and Emergency
Departments.
Information kiosks are seen as fundamental to the development of
NHS Direct services and will be used increasingly to provide convenient
access to Healthcare advice and information.
